Francisco's Farm Arts Newsletter
December 2008 Issue No. 13
Season's Greetings to the Friends of Francisco's Farm!

A mid-summer arts festival is likely the farthest thing from your mind on this gray December day, but the Planning Committee has been busy preparing for the sixth annual Francisco's Farm Arts Festival at Midway College and we've got some news to share!

AmericanStyle Magazine Top Ten Article
awardFor the third time in three years, AmericanStyle Magazine has named Francisco's Farm among the Top Ten Art Fairs in the country!

Thanks to all of you who voted for your three favorite festivals and counted Francisco's Farm among them.

We started out as #10 in 2006, moved to #9 in 2007 and now we've jumped to #7. Three Kentucky festivals made the prestigious Top Ten list this year - Kentucky Crafted: The Market (a 25-year-old event), St. James Court Art Show (a 50-year-old event), and our young Festival.

As a volunteer, this is YOUR award! It's the tremendous volunteer team that has put Francisco's Farm on the national map, and you can help us stay there. I'll send you a reminder to vote for us again next year, and in the meantime there are four small but important ways you can help us today.

datesFirst ~ Mark Your Calendar ~ The 6th annual Festival is June 27 & 28, 150 banners will line the streets & college campus this weekend2009 ~
The Planning Committee made a decision to determine future dates using the formula "Francisco's Farm Follows Father's Day", as many volunteers believed holding the event on Father's Day weekend hurt both attendance and their availability to volunteer. From 2009 on, we plan to schedule the festival for the weekend after Father's Day, which will vary from year to year.

Click on the link above or the link below, and indicate your interest in receiving news from us. Right now you're receiving only what we send to volunteers, but you can also join our general news subscription list. We'll keep you posted on upcoming events and, once the exhibiting artists are selected in February, provide interesting 'Meet the Artist' profiles weekly. You can unsubscribe from either or both lists at any time, but if you enjoy the news consider using the 'Forward Email' link to share with friends and help us grow!

KrogerThird ~ Order a Kroger Gift Card ~ Win FarmBucks! ~

Many non-profit organizations and schools earn money through this program, and we've just joined them! If you aren't already committed to another fundraising effort through Kroger, order your Gift Card from us today. Mail a check for $5 and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Francisco's Farm at the address below, and I'll send your card (preloaded with $5) and complete instructions. Each time you recharge (add money to) the card, Kroger will donate cash to the Festival.

Your gift card can be used for anything in Kroger stores, including fuel and prescriptions, with the exception of services (money orders, lottery tickets, hunting licenses, etc). You can recharge your card at any register, and Francisco's Farm benefits at no cost to you!

When you order a Gift Card we'll put your name in the FarmBucks Drawing. One lucky winner, drawn at the beginning of June, will receive $100 in FarmBucks to spend on art at the Festival. AND every time your recharges total $500, we'll put your name in the drawing again!

Magnify your efforts by encouraging friends and family to order Gift Cards, too! There is no limit to the number of cards we can distribute or the amount of money we can earn.

One more 'Guerilla Fundraising' Program that Costs You Nothing

Goodsearch donates money for Francisco's Farm Arts Festival! In challenging economic times, non-profits take advantage of the potential to raise pennies from every decent source and the pennies add up! I've just discovered 'GoodSearch', where simply using their Yahoo-powered search engine instead of my usual 'Google' searching, I'm earning at least a penny for Francisco's Farm every single time I search the internet. If I shop online (at places like Amazon, Target, Ebay, and more), a portion of my purchases goes directly to Francisco's Farm, too! GoodSearch donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. The money comes from its advertisers - the users and the organizations do not spend a dime.

Won't YOU join me and encourage your friends and family to join you? Just click on the GoodSearch logo and you'll be taken to
goodsearch.com. If 'Midway Renaissance' isn't already showing in the 'Who do you Goodsearch for?' box, you can type it in. Midway Renaissance, Inc. is the non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that produces the Festival.

I also clicked on the line that says "Make GoodSearch my Home Page", so I'll remember to use it for all my searches. I hope you'll do the same!

Thanks for your support, and Enjoy the Holidays!
